Patient FAQ

If you have any questions regarding our services or our office, please take a moment to read through this list. If you still haven't found the answer for your questions, please contact us.

  • Yes! New patients are always welcome at Midlands Dental.

  • We accept a majority of the insurance plans; but you may not find our name on PPO lists because all PPO plans are specifically-designed to benefit insurance companies & not the patients. The plans are all designed in such a way that the dentistry has to be completed within the shortest possible time and sell it at the lowest possible cost. In most cases, this goes against the patient's interests and needs.

We always place our patients before everything else and our recommendation for any treatment is based on what we consider to be in your best interest — it is not based on the amount that your insurance company is willing to pay.

  • We very strongly believe that having insurance is a catalyst that encourages people to maintain dental health & we work closely with our patients who have dental insurance coverage. But you will rarely find a plan that covers 100% of the fees we charge. This is why:

Employers always have a fixed budget to buy insurance. Insurance companies charge 30 percent of the premiums that are paid-in, to handle the plan. If 100% of the fees had to be covered, the cost would work out to more than the actual fees. In most instances, employers purchase coverage for a certain percentage of average-quality dentistry that is provided at an average office that has average staff.

We use the best technology, materials and personnel, to provide you the highest levels of dental care. We work with you and file your insurance claims; but it is important to keep in mind that the coverage you get is determined by what was purchased by your employer, not by us.

services FAQ

  • Contrary to popular belief, there is no specialization for cosmetic dentistry. All our dentists practice cosmetic dentistry. On average, our dentists attend approximately 50 hours of continuing education per year. All procedures related to implants, gums, crowns, bonding, fillings, veneers or the manner in which teeth are aligned, have a cosmetic component to them.

  • We are very committed to treating children's dental problems. We very strongly believe that the first impression that a child has about a dental office is crucial to all future treatments that may be required. If we feel that only a pediatric dentist will be able to attend to a particular issue, this will be discussed with the parents and they will be directed to a specialist in the field.

  • We work with a team of dental surgeons that are specialized in implant dentistry. Once the patient has been released by the surgeon, it is our job to build the bridges & crowns on these implants.

  • Many people have qualms about dental visits and we prioritize your comfort. Once our dentists have evaluated your dental & medical history, we may use oral sedation (pills) or nitrous oxide (laughing gas) that will help you relax. You will also find overhead TV's installed, for watching movies and TV shows; these help in distracting you from the actual dental work that is being carried out and helps in reducing stress.

general FAQ

  • Even though they brush their teeth everyday, literally millions of people suffer from bad breath (Halitosis). Here are some helpful tips:

    Brush after every meal.

Clean your tongue after you have brushed your teeth.

    Floss your teeth everyday.

Get frequent professional teeth cleaning done.

Thoroughly clean removable dental appliances and dentures carefully.

Despite doing all this, if the bad breath problem continues, we can offer a range of solutions such as:

We can provide a tongue scraper; this plastic tool effectively cleans the bacterial build-up on the tongue and removes bad odor.

We can recommend a specially-formulated toothpaste/rinse that can break the odor-causing sulfur bonds that result in bad breath.

In case we find any underlying condition or an infection that is causing the problem, we may recommend that you visit a specialist/family physician to identify what the actual cause is.

  • Some people end up chipping or breaking their teeth by grinding/clenching them in their sleep. We recommend a night-guard which also helps in easing the pressure and prevents headaches.

  • Gums that are affected by periodontal disease get inflamed and red and tend to bleed when you brush or floss. It is possible to reverse these conditions with timely treatment. If you fail to attend to these conditions on time, the periodontal disease can become more severe and lead to periodontitis which is more difficult to treat.
