our history

A TRADITION OF SERVICE.

Midlands Dental was founded by Dr. Rudolph C. Harrington in 1975. Although we have seen many changes in the years since then, our core values and emphasis on serving our patients have not wavered. This is just a small part of the Midlands Dental Story...

1975

After two years of practicing dentistry in the dependent clinic at Fort Jackson, Dr. Rudolph C. Harrington opened his new office on Old Bush River Road in Columbia in June of 1975.

1987

Having outgrown the first small office, he moved the practice to present facility at 9 Surrey Court, just south of Irmo High School. His vision was to have a group practice with the benefits of having the latest technological advances due to cost-sharing, immediate sharing among doctors of diagnoses and treatments for patients, having more complete emergency (after hours) coverage for patients, plus having patient records available for the emergency doctor.

2004

Seventeen years after relocating, the entire office was remodeled. Warmer colors were added into the decor, a stone fireplace was installed. Carpet, walls and cabinetry were updated.

2006

Dr. Parnell joined the practice in 2006 and became a partner in 2010.

2016

Dr. Harrington retired from the practice. We are happy he is enjoying his retirement, but we know he is greatly missed by patients and staff alike.

We continue to grow and expand as a practice to best serve our patients. We work to add the most up-to-date technology, state-of-the-art equipment, and the latest dental services to assure that you are getting the best. We welcome and enjoy all of our patients and look forward to meeting new patients who would like to join our practice.
